This is book is not only for the C-Suite folks (the top senior executives' titles that start with the letter C, for chief, as in chief executive officer, chief operating officer and chief information officer, etc.). This is a book suitable for anyone who wants guidance through the interview process as a candidate.

Leora Bach provides wonderful insights and practical applications and tips based on her vast experience as an international headhunter (25 years experience, having interviewed more than 20,000 people). This book is a treasured resource that will accompany me throughout my corporate life. I see it as a road map of sorts so I am well prepared as I plot my next move. I especially enjoyed the stories, the calls to action, and the Glasbergen cartoons. This book is a jewel. Here’s to all of us realizing our dreams!

“Ace your C-Suite Interview” by Leora Bach is a great resource, but not only for the C-Suite executives. Everyone looking for a new position should read this rich and well written book with a touch of personal development, which is a missing element in many similar books. And what’s more, it’s written from the heart, with priceless background information and many valuable tools, exercises, and useful examples (such as common asked interview questions, and how these questions also could be paraphrased, so you know what to expect). They all help tremendously with the preparation process.

When a headhunter tells you about her job that “This is what I love to do most – help people who have lost all hope and given up on themselves, and show them that they can turn their situation around and be better off than before “, one should listen to her words. And when she has 25 years experience that she’s willing to share, it’s a gift.

About the Author
James A. Herrick is the Guy VanderJagt Professor of Communication at Hope College in Holland, Michigan, where he has served for ten years as the Chair of the Department of Communication. He received his M.A. from the University of California, Davis, and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Professor Herrick is the author of several books and numerous scholarly articles and reviews. His scholarly interests include argumentation, the history of rhetoric, and religious controversy.

I bought it for a class but will be selling it

Even though it is supposed to be easy to read, I feel like in cases there weren't enough examples and it was too wordy on things it could have explained more simply. I have personally gotten a lot more out of other Argumentation and Logic books, such as Beyond Feelings. Of course, it was a book required for a college class, so perhaps that is why I don't feel that positive about the book as well? Anyways, if you have to buy it for a class, buy it. Otherwise, find a different book to learn about argumentation and logic. I am going to be selling mine now that my class is over.

I found this a readable and title on the subject.

I found this to be a readable refresher on the subject. I've recently had to write a number of papers for my employer advocating various positions. This Herrick does a very nice job of going over the basics. The writing is suitable for high school, undergraduates and business folk.

I have to agree that this book is the best to one to have in your kitchen as far as a good basic cookbook you should have on hand for super good home cooked meals. I learned to improve my own cooking skills with this book and I enjoyed making recipes that actually turned out deliciously for daily meals and or for special occasions. Would make for an awesome gift idea...I too am happy to find this book as I need to replace my worn out version as I used mine so much for reference as it has tons of information on spices and meat temperatures and a glossery on cooking vocabulary. If someone knows of a better book, I'd appreciate any imput......because I certainly do not know of one off hand. I hope you buy yourself one or for a gift for that special person who loves to cook and or is just learning. You won't be sorry I promise.

Basic Cookbook

This is a great basic cookbook. I have had many, but this is the best. When you are looking up a receipe, many basic cookbooks tell you to open a box of some kind of mix, (to bake rolls or a cake etc) and tell you how to add onto that. I don't keep many mixes on hand, and this book gives you just a simple receipe to follow for almost anything. It also has information on storing, buying, cuts of meat, and roasting timetables for poultry and roasts. It's very complete from soups to entree's and desserts and it's also "new enough" that the roasting temperatures are safe. Mine is worn out and I'm going to buy another.

36 years of good cooking

I received this cookbook as a wedding gift and pretty much learned all I need to be a good cook(others praise) from this cookbook alone. It covers the basics of eggs, soups, breads, gravy, sauces, turkey stuffing, pies and cake frostings and anything else in between. The stuffing, several of the soups, potato salad are all things friends and family repeatedly request. One of the more unique recipes is for Kentucky style spare ribs. This book turns out great results.

On top of the recipes the front and rear inside covers have substitution and measurement conversion charts. Very helpful.
